  • Do not shout down to any members of the public regardless of provocation.

Rigging Notes: Use common sense and consideration for others, there are people that will walk over your wing and lines.

Marshalling: Keep the landing area clear. Keep the air in front of launch clear.

Launch Notes: Take off from the beach or dunes or, the cliff to the north has the odd clear area for launching. Black cliffs is now very over grown so, not the best for launching.

Top Landing Notes: Pilots are advised to always land on the beach.

Bottom Landing Notes: Anywhere on the sandy beach at LOW tide.

Hazards: Military low flying. ROTOR here is way behind the cliffs so, watch out. No beach landings when tide is in.

XC Tips: Virtually none…unless you are lucky enough to catch a sea/land thermal popping off St Ives drifting on a Westerly wind which triggers off The ‘Black Cliffs’ site between October and April…….NO ONE HAS XC’d from Hayle yet

Met Services: Dialmet is available for RAF St. Mawgan and RNAS Culdrose.

All information is for guidance only. All pilots must make their own assessment of the site.
