Site information

Members and accompanied guests only at request of the landowner

Altitude: 750 feet

Height Top to Bottom: 750 feet

How to get there: Best option is to use standard nav as sign post are limited.

Vehicle Access & Parking: Parking lay-by as shown on site map. Gliders can be dropped off in the lane that runs along to take off but no vehicles are to be parked there.

Rules and Restrictions: Ensure permission to fly has been sought prior to arriving from the farmer Henry Crocker 01840 230492.

Take off: There is a “higher” and “lower launch”. Check suitability of either depending on weather conditions and type of glider

Top Landing: Can be in the field directly behind launch on other side of lane or in the field on the opposite side of the road by the lay-by (slight up slope). Both fields can be wet in rainy conditions and may have livestock which should be avoided.

it is possible depending on conditions to land to the right of take off although quite narrow.

Bottom Landing: Not recommended as whilst it may look like a stony beach the stones are actually very large boulders. Slope landing possible up the “valley” to the right of take off

Hazards: Be wary on Hang Gliders if the wind is off to the west at launch. Water “landings”

XC Tips: This can be a thermic site, keep your eyes out for seagulls out in front and “wind patches” on the water. Current site record is to Start Point on the south coast (HG).

General Tips: This can be a thermic site in the right conditions and as such altitudes can vary quickly both up and down. Generally not advised to fly unless the seagulls are soaring. Keep landing option always in mind.

Met Services: Dialmet is available for RAF St. Mawgan and RNAS Culdrose.
