Site information

Altitude: 300 feet

Height Top to Bottom: N/A

Please also note: There is a permanent parachute drop zone which extends up to 15000′, so a little tricky to fly over and lies pretty much on our preferred XC route from Chapel Porth to Perran. However, para- chuting does not take place all the time, and by contacting the Cornish Parachute Club you can find out if they are active or not. If no information is available from the airfield call the Cornish Parachute Club on: 07790 439653.

Launch Notes: Be 120% certain of lift before launching. If in doubt – don’t.

Top Landing Notes: Land in the huge area behind and to the west of launch. Land well back. Do not overshoot.

Bottom Landing Notes: Not at all applicable, sea – never any beach!

Hazards: The obvious hazard of flying a site with absolutely no bottom landing and flying with radio controlled aeromodellers. The NCI Station west of launch is used by radio hams who have a CAA license to fly a kite aerial up to 600 feet.

Restricted Areas:

Airspace: This site is in a Military Low Flying Area. Be aware of Perranporth Airfield. If you are likely to fly inland clear your flying with Perranporth Airfield on: 01872 552266 (flying club) or 01872 552856 (café) try both numbers.

XC Tips: Look out for the RNAS Culdrose MATZ and ATZ downwind.

Met Services: Dialmet is available for RAF St. Mawgan and RNAS Culdrose.

All information is for guidance only. All pilots must make their own assessment of the site.

Don’t Forget: Use CANP to notam your intention to fly 4 hours beforehand.
